National Lottery App and Website Crippled by Widespread Outages
Thousands of National Lottery players across the UK have been left fuming as the app and website suffered major crashes. Frustration boiled over last night and continued into this morning, disrupting hopes of a lucky win.
Thousands Complain as Outages Peak
The trouble kicked off around 9pm yesterday, with a massive 2,200 reports flooding Downdetector UK by 11pm. The chaos didn’t stop there – another 1,500 complaints rolled in before 7am today, showing the issues dragged on for hours.
App Takes the Biggest Hit
According to Downdetector UK data:
- 53% of problems were linked to the National Lottery app
- 41% affected the website
- 6% were login-related issues
The outages hit everywhere, but Glasgow, Manchester, and London emerged as the hardest-hit hotspots.
Users Slam National Lottery on Social Media
Players flooded social media – now X (formerly Twitter) – venting their anger. One user blasted:
“Come on @TNLUK your app and website are down, this has been going on since 9pm last night. The fact it’s still not resolved after all this time is ridiculous.”
Another questioned:
“Has anyone actually been able to log in to the national lottery website or use the app since 9pm last night? @TNLUK Will the issue be resolved in time for today’s draw or will it take longer to fix?”
A third added:
“The National Lottery app is playing up. Most probably due to the IT chaos that was caused today.”
National Lottery Issues Official Apology
The National Lottery addressed the backlash, tweeting:
“Hi. We are aware that some players are having issues accessing our website and app. Apologies for the inconvenience, our team are currently investigating the issue to find out what has happened.”
When Will Services Be Back?
The National Lottery team assures users they’re working hard to fix the glitches. Players are urged to keep an eye on the official National Lottery channels for updates on when full service will resume and to avoid missing out on draws.
