Toprak Razgatlioglu Smashes WorldSBK at Misano with Stunning Hat-Trick

Toprak Razgatlioglu made history at the 2024 FIM Superbike World Championship’s fourth round by sweeping all three races at Misano. Riding his BMW M 1000 RR, the Turkish star delivered an unstoppable performance, catapulting himself to the top of the world championship leaderboard with a commanding 21-point lead.

Record-Breaking Pole and Dominant Race Wins

Razgatlioglu kicked off the weekend in blistering style, smashing the Misano track record to snatch pole position during Saturday’s Superpole qualifying. Although he briefly lost the lead in race one, he quickly fought back to secure a comfortable 1.8-second win. This marked his sixth victory of the season, cementing his place as the championship frontrunner.

Sunday Dominance Seals Unbeatable Weekend

The Turkish ace continued to dominate on Sunday. A shaky start saw him drop to fifth early in the second race, but Razgatlioglu’s sheer skill and strategy saw him storm back to the front, extending his lead and sealing a third win for the weekend. His relentless pace left rivals trailing.

Team Drama and Setbacks

  • Teammate Michael van der Mark showed early promise but was undone by a crash in Superpole and technical gremlins in race two.
  • Bonovo Action BMW’s Garrett Gerloff suffered crashes in both Superpole and race two, ruining his weekend.
  • Scott Redding staged an impressive comeback in race two, climbing from 20th to finish 12th.

BMW Motorrad Motorsport Sporting Director Marc Bongers praised Razgatlioglu’s performance as a “monumental achievement” for the team and brand.

Next Stop: Donington Park

The WorldSBK circus shifts to Donington Park from July 12th-14th, where Razgatlioglu will look to defend his newly minted championship lead and keep the unbeaten streak alive.
