RMT Strike Chaos Hits 14 Train Operators This Saturday
The Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) has slammed the brakes on 14 train operators with a walkout this Saturday. Passengers face major travel headaches as services start late and finish early nationwide.
Only 40% to 50% of trains are expected to run across the UK, with some areas seeing no trains at all. Weekend football fans and families heading to leisure events are warned to check before they travel.
More Strikes Loom as RMT Demands Better Deal
The RMT isn’t stopping here. Following strikes earlier this week, fresh stoppages are planned for March 30 and April 1. The union insists private rail firms can’t cough up a decent offer and claims they fail to run proper services when not on strike.
Rail Delivery Group Slams RMT Leadership
The Rail Delivery Group (RDG) accuses the RMT leadership of blocking a resolution by denying members a say on their own deal. RDG urges passengers to double-check travel plans, offering ticket flexibility for March 30 and April 1, allowing use the day before or on April 4.
Steve Montgomery, chair of the RDG, blasted the strikes for hitting customers already battered by months of disruption — and for costing rail workers more money at the worst time.
RMT’s Mick Lynch Calls for Nationalisation
RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch stepped up the rhetoric, calling on the government to nationalise Avanti and TransPennine Express. He slammed private companies for failing to deliver a decent service to passengers.
