Massive Blaze Hits Perivale Industrial Estate on Christmas Day

Twenty fire engines and around 125 firefighters battled a huge fire at an industrial estate on Walmgate Road, Perivale. Half of the single and two-storey warehouses were badly damaged in the inferno that broke out on Christmas Day.

Firefighters Brave Complex, Aggressive Blaze

Assistant Commissioner Paul McCourt, who was at the scene, called it “an aggressive, challenging, and incredibly complex fire” inside a premises housing several small businesses. Fire crews worked tirelessly throughout Christmas Day to bring the situation under control and protect neighbouring units.

“More than 125 firefighters attended the scene,” said McCourt. “We deployed 32m and 64m turntable ladders as water towers to douse the flames. Six firefighters were assessed for injuries and three were taken to hospital but have all since been discharged. Crews stayed on through the night and Boxing Day to fully extinguish the fire and keep dampening hotspots.”

Thick Smoke Hits Local Area, Safety Measures Enforced

The severe blaze sent heavy smoke drifting over nearby homes, forcing safety warnings. Emergency services advised locals to keep windows and doors shut and avoid travelling through the smoke-affected zones.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers managed 44 calls about the incident, coordinating fire engines across London to maintain emergency coverage despite the busy public holiday.

Under Investigation – Cause Still Unknown

The fire was reported at 12:35 pm and brought under control by 7:52 pm. Crews from Wembley, Northolt, Ealing, Park Royal, and surrounding stations worked together. No injuries to the public were reported. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
