Two men have been arrested after a woman was raped in the early hours of 2 May on Bank Street in Mexborough town centre, Doncaster. South Yorkshire Police responded at 2.09am following reports of the attack and launched an immediate investigation.

Suspects In Custody

A 48-year-old man is held on suspicion of rape, and a 45-year-old man on suspicion of sexual assault. Both were arrested the day after the incident and later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Descriptions Released

  • The first suspect is a white man, about 5ft 10ins tall, average build, bald.
  • The second suspect is a white man, approximately 6ft tall, slim build.

Suspects Attack

Detective Chief Inspector Susannah Wagstaff reassured the public: “We know that news of this incident will cause concern in our local communities but I want to reassure you that we have a team of detectives working hard to progress this investigation.”
