Police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of Ernest Deputat, found dead last October in Southampton Common. The suspects, aged 30 and 34, were cuffed separately in Bradford and London on Monday, February 16. Both are now in custody in Southampton as the investigation intensifies.

Tragic Discovery in Southampton Woodland

Ernest, 45, a Polish national known within the city’s homeless community, was discovered by a member of the public on Wednesday, 8 October 2025. His body was found in woodland near the wildlife reserve just north of the Ornamental Lake on Southampton Common. Police noted signs of a fire at the scene during early enquiries.
