Thameslink Chaos as Two Fatalities Shake Network
Thameslink services are in chaos today after two tragic deaths at separate stations. Passengers are warned to avoid travelling amid widespread rail disruption across Southeast England.
Double Tragedy at St Albans and Three Bridges Stations
British Transport Police were called to St Albans station at 9:15am following reports of a casualty. Tragically, the person was pronounced dead at the scene. Just over an hour later, at 10:30am, emergency crews responded to another fatal incident at Three Bridges station. The victim there was also pronounced dead on site.
Authorities confirmed the second death is not suspicious. Details have been passed to the coroner as investigations continue.
Rail Services Ground to a Halt Across Southeast
- No trains are running between Luton and St Albans on Thameslink, Southern, and Gatwick Express lines.
- Services are suspended between Gatwick Airport, Haywards Heath, and Horsham.
- Gatwick Airport station has been evacuated due to severe overcrowding.
- East Midlands Railway faces disruption between Luton and London St Pancras International; no trains running on Connect route from Corby to London.
- Great Western Railway is terminating some trains at Redhill to avoid delays entering Gatwick.
Originally expected to clear by 1pm, delays are now set to drag on until at least 3pm, with more disruption possible.
