Fog Alert: Travel Chaos Expected Across Large Parts of the UK

When and Where

A yellow fog warning is in effect from 8pm on Wednesday, 15 January until 11am on Thursday, 16 January. Expect thick fog to cause headaches for commuters across a vast swathe of the UK.

What to Expect

  • Slower journeys and possible delays on buses and trains.
  • Flight delays or cancellations are possible.
  • Visibility may plunge to less than 100 metres in some areas.

Why the Warning?

The Met Office has issued this yellow warning meaning there’s a medium chance of travel disruption but the overall impact is expected to be low. The fog is forecast to lift by dawn in some places but will stick around a corridor from Southwest England right through the Midlands into Yorkshire until late Thursday morning.
