12 Fire Engines and 80 Firefighters Battle the Blaze

The London Fire Brigade has deployed 12 fire engines, two turntable ladders, a hose layer, and a high-volume pump to tackle the dangerous blaze. Around 80 firefighters are on the ground, working round the clock to control the fire.

A brigade spokesperson said: “Twelve fire engines and around 80 firefighters are currently tackling a major fire at a commercial building on Forest Road in Ilford.”

The blaze has engulfed half of the first floor of a two-storey building housing a gym and a restaurant. Fire crews have cordoned off a safe work area on Forest Road to coordinate their attack on the flames.

The Brigade’s Control Officers have already taken five emergency calls related to the fire. They are using GoodSam technology to receive live video streams from bystanders’ smartphones, giving crews better situational awareness of the unfolding disaster.

The Brigade was first alerted at 1:54am, with fire crews from Hainault, Romford, Dagenham, Woodford, and nearby stations rushing to the scene.

Cause of Fire Still Unknown

Investigations into the cause of the blaze are ongoing. Officials have not confirmed any casualties or the full extent of the damage as emergency crews continue their exhausting work.
