Devastating Warehouse Blaze Wrecks Widdington Party Supply Business

A massive fire tore through a popular party and wedding supply warehouse in Widdington, Essex, on Wednesday night, leaving the business in ruins. Essex Fire and Rescue Service launched an urgent investigation into the cause of the inferno.

Five Fire Crews Tackle Fully Involved Blaze

The fire broke out at 8:25pm on Mole Hall Lane, sparking a rapid response from five fire crews across Essex. Teams arrived from Thaxted, Stansted, Great Dunmow, and two crews from Saffron Walden to battle the flames.

They faced a fully involved fire raging through a single-storey, 25 by 25 metre warehouse packed with party and wedding supplies.

Firefighters Stop Blaze from Spreading

Group Manager Scott Meekings praised the crews’ quick work, saying:

“Crews worked hard to protect the surrounding fields and establish a water supply from a nearby stream. Unfortunately, the building and its contents — including party and wedding supplies — were destroyed. Our thoughts go out to the business owners.”
