Early on Sunday, January 28, panic gripped the A2 in Bexleyheath when a car was spotted hurtling the wrong way down the carriageway. The shock didn’t end there — the rogue vehicle smashed into another car, escalating the drama.
Fast Police Response as Collision Confirmed
Police raced to the scene after reports came in around 5am. En route, they learned the wrong-way driver had collided with a second vehicle. Officers quickly apprehended the culprit, who was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
Driver Hospitalised and Held in Custody
The detained driver was taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary checks. He now remains in custody at a south London police station as investigations continue.

“Police were called at about 04:55hrs on Sunday, 28 January to reports of a car travelling on the wrong side of the carriageway on the A2 in Bexleyheath. While en route, officers were informed that the car had collided with a second vehicle. The driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and taken to a hospital as a precaution. He remains in custody at a south 1 police station. The road was partially closed to traffic.”
