Beware! Parcel ‘Delivery’ Texts Are a Royal Mail Scam
Don’t fall for it – your “Royal Mail” parcel isn’t stuck unless you pay up. It’s a scam costing Brits their life savings.
Fake Royal Mail Texts Flood Phones
People eagerly awaiting parcels are being hit by a fresh wave of con texts. These messages claim your package is waiting, but you must settle a small fee of £1.99 to unlock delivery.
The text includes a link to a fake Royal Mail website designed to steal your personal and payment info.
Trading Standards Sound the Alarm
Experts urge the public: do not click the link. The site is a copycat fraud trap. Royal Mail says it never sends these payment-demanding texts.
“Royal Mail would not send such messages unless you had specifically requested it,” a spokesperson said. “We always use a grey card to notify customers of any charges.”
Scamsters Up Their Game
This isn’t new. Royal Mail warned about a similar email scam back in February. But the fraudsters have stepped up their game, now using slicker texts and fake sites to con users.
If you receive these suspicious texts, delete them immediately and never enter personal details.
