Dolly Parton’s Health Scare Sparks Global Prayer Campaign
Country music icon Dolly Parton, 79, is battling mysterious health issues. Her family has called on fans worldwide to send their love and prayers during this difficult time.
Sister Freida’s Emotional Call to Fans
Just days after Dolly postponed six Las Vegas shows, her sister Freida Parton, 68, made a heartfelt plea on Facebook.
“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” Freida wrote. She urged fans to become “prayer warriors” and surround Dolly with support.
“Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.
She’s strong, she’s loved. And with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”
Las Vegas Shows Postponed Until 2026
Dolly shocked fans on September 28 by postponing her Dolly: Live in Las Vegas residency at the Caesars Palace Colosseum. The series, originally set for December, is now pushed back to September 2026, citing “health challenges.”
On Instagram, Dolly explained she faces several medical procedures. In classic Dolly fashion, she joked, “It felt like time for my 100,000-mile check-up—though not my usual trip to see the plastic surgeon.”
She reassured fans, “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
Stars and Fans Rally Around Dolly
The star’s legion of supporters, including fellow celebs, have flooded social media with love. Actress Olivia Munn posted red heart emojis on Dolly’s updates.
Country singer Brandi Carlile praised her as “beyond reproach.” Jennifer Nettles added, “Big adventures for you, for sure! Can’t wait to enjoy them with you! In the meantime, tend to yourself and feel better!”
Fans chimed in with comments like, “Protect this queen at all costs!” and “Heal strong, Queen Dolly!”
Year of Hardship: Health Battles and Loss
This isn’t Dolly’s first health hiccup this year. She recently cancelled a Dollywood appearance due to kidney stones—a painful condition she’s faced before, including in 2015.
Adding heartache, Dolly lost her husband Carl Dean earlier in 2025 after 60 years together. On the Today Show, she tearfully recalled, “Oh, you know what, I get very emotional when people bring it up. We were together 60 years. I’ve loved him since I was 18 years old.”
Dolly described Carl as a private man who avoided the spotlight, saying, “He said, ‘I didn’t choose this world, I chose you, and you chose that world. But we can keep our lives separate and together.’ And we do and we have.”
She also revealed that Carl inspired one of her biggest hits, Jolene, told from a bank teller’s point of view who fell for him.
Dolly’s Fighting Spirit Shines Bright
Despite the setbacks, Dolly remains hopeful and strong. As Freida affirmed, “She’s strong, she’s loved,” and with fans around the world praying, Dolly Parton is poised to beat this latest challenge.
