Kurdish People Smuggling Ring Boss Nabbed in Portsmouth
The National Crime Agency (NCA) has arrested a key player in a Kurdish organised crime gang suspected of smuggling people into the UK by boats and heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).
45-Year-Old Man Busted in Early Morning Raid
In a joint swoop with Hampshire Police, the NCA detained a 45-year-old man at his home in Kingston, Portsmouth. He’s been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to facilitate illegal immigration and money laundering.
Authorities allege he ran a sprawling smuggling network operating across northern Europe and the Middle East, charging inflated fees to bring hundreds of people into the UK.
Senior Gang Member Detained in Italy
Last month, a second high-ranking suspect was arrested in Italy. Thanks to a warrant secured by the NCA, extradition proceedings are now underway to bring him to the UK for trial.
NCA Vows to Smash Dangerous Smuggling Networks
Rachel Bramley, Senior Investigating Officer at the NCA, warned: “This gang’s activities are incredibly dangerous and life-threatening. We remain absolutely committed to tackling organised immigration crime and will see this investigation through to the end.”
The NCA continues to pursue all leads as they work to dismantle this ruthless human trafficking operation once and for all.
