Fugitive Rapist Sarbaz Najmadeen Ali Caught After 8 Years on the Run
Sarbaz Najmadeen Ali, 36, has finally been hauled back to justice after fleeing the Crown Court during his 2014 rape and sexual assault trial. The Sussex Police detective team tracked him down following an eight-year manhunt.
From Germany to France: A Cross-Continental Pursuit
Ali was initially caught in Germany for suspected offences but had to serve a sentence there before Sussex Police could execute a European Arrest Warrant. After his release, he was arrested in France and extradited back to the UK.
During the trial, Ali was found guilty of:
- Rape
- Attempted rape
- Assault by penetration
- Two counts of sexual assault against a 33-year-old man he knew
Ali has now received a life order banning him from contact with children under 16—highlighting the serious risk he poses to young people.
