Six Months On, Sheffield Stab Death Remains a Mystery

Carlo Giannini was found dead in Manor Fields Park, Sheffield, at 5am on Thursday, 12 May. A post-mortem revealed he died from a stab wound.

Despite six months of intensive investigations, including CCTV reviews and witness appeals, police are still baffled about what happened that morning and how Carlo received the fatal injury.

Last Known Movements Unknown

It’s believed the 34-year-old entered the park at 1:08am, but his movements after that point remain a mystery. Nobody knows what led to the tragic stabbing.

Carlo’s grieving family, based in Italy, have issued a heartfelt plea for answers. They shared two new photos showing Carlo enjoying a family meal, describing him as “full of life.”

“Carlo has a family whose heart has been broken and left with a piece of them missing,” they said.

“Carlo was full of passion for his work, loved his family and friends, and trusted those who showed him love. He wanted to change his life through his work.

“He deserves to rest in peace, and along with justice, this is the least we can give him after his life was taken. No one has the right to kill.”

Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up

Senior Investigating Officer DCI Becky Hodgman appealed directly to the public:

“It’s still absolutely essential we build a clear picture of what happened in and around the park on 12 May.

“Somebody out there knows something that will help the Giannini family get answers. This is your chance to come forward.”

Two arrests were made – a 17-year-old has been released with no further action, while an 18-year-old remains on bail.

The family added:

“If anyone saw something on the night of 11 and 12 May 2022 please contact the police.

“It might help give Carlo some dignity.”
