Who’s to Blame? Israeli Airstrike Accused
Gazan authorities and a nearby hospital have pointed fingers at an Israeli airstrike for the blast. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have not yet commented on whether they targeted the area at the time.
Harrowing Toll from the Ground
Dr Khalil Al-Daqran, head of nursing at Al-Aqsa Martyr’s Hospital in Deir Al-Balah, described seeing at least 33 bodies – including women and children. He fears the death toll could climb as more victims arrive.
“One of the houses in the camp was struck. This house was crowded with residents. Its residents were bombed while they were safe in their homes,” Dr Al-Daqran told CNN.
Rescue Efforts Continue Amid Rubble
A spokesperson for the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry confirmed 33 dead and 42 wounded. First responders and local residents are frantically searching the wreckage for survivors or more casualties.
