Heartbreaking Tribute as Mum Dies in Tragic M27 Crash
Emotional tributes are flooding in for Lucy Page, a beloved 32-year-old mother of two, who tragically died after falling from a motorway bridge on the M27 near Fareham.
Shock on the M27: Loved Ones Mourn
Friends and family have left flowers on the bridge where Lucy fell, with a lone candle burning as a poignant reminder of the popular mum. Her partner, Jon Cunningham, expressed heartbreak, saying:
“This is a desperate, desperate time for myself and my young family. Lucy was the best mother to our children and the best person to have as a friend.”
Jon also urged the public to respect their privacy during this devastating period.
Tragic Details of the Incident
Lucy was found on the carriageway near the Down End Road Bridge, close to junction 11 westbound. Police believe she was on the bridge moments before the fall and may have been struck by a lorry before ending up in the road.
The 28-year-old lorry driver from Southampton was left shaken but unharmed. Police confirmed Lucy died at the scene, and her death is not being treated as suspicious.
Community in Shock
Neighbours and friends have been left stunned by the tragedy. Former neighbour Sarah Ingram, 53, said:
“She was the loveliest girl you could ever wish to meet. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was beautiful. I’ve known her since she was five. She was just the nicest person and a brilliant mum. It’s just so sad.”
Ongoing Police Appeal
Two lanes of the M27 had to close for three hours during the emergency response, causing traffic chaos for five hours. Sgt Wayne Voller, leading the investigation, said:
“This was a tragic incident handled with care. We worked hard to reopen the road as quickly as possible.”
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact Sgt Voller at the Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting reference number 44150439284.
