Isle of Wight man James Moore charged and remanded over Child Grooming Offences

A man charged with child grooming offences will appear before a Judge at Southampton Crown Court Richard Moore is charged with an attempted grooming offence and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. It is understood that the man travelled to Southampton on Saturday when he was arrested as part of a sting operation. Officers attended Portswood Road in Southampton after receiving a call shortly after 2pm on January 6th. Police have revealed that the 43 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of an attempted grooming offence and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. Richard James Moore, of Newport, was subsequently charged with both offences. He appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday) and was remanded into custody for fear of committing further offences and the seriousness of the current charges. Magistrates refused bailed on these conditions and Moore was remanded to Winchester Prison. He will now appear for Please and direction hearing at Southampton Crown Court, on 5 February.
