Fire crews from across Hampshire called to Major Blaze in Whitchurch

Twelve fire engines and sixty firefighters have been called to talk a well developed fire in Whitchurch. it is understood that crews have attempting to stop the spread of a fire in a farm house from spreading to a second property. Crews from across the county where mobilised just after 10pm on Wednesday evening. Flames and smoke can be seen from the nearby A34. Police gave restriction in place to protect crews. South central ambulance service have also sent a number of resources to the incident. It’s understood crews are likely to remain at the incident for sometime with further resources being called on. A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: A farmhouse and a mill were badly damaged in a large fire in Whitchurch. More than 50 firefighters attended the blaze in London Road which is now under control. There were 12 fire engines from Whitchurch, Overton, Andover, Sutton Scotney, Winchester, Basingstoke, Eastleigh and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service as well as support vehicles. The blaze damaged the ground floor, first floor and roof. Nobody was hurt in the fire that broke out at 10.10pm Crews used a number of jets and foam to bring the fire under control.
