Vandals Target Newport Nationwide for Third Time

Newport’s Nationwide branch is under attack — again. For the third time in recent weeks, vandals have wrecked the High Street bank’s cash machine.

This time, glue was smeared all over the ATM keypad, and the Surround was ripped off, leaving it completely unusable.

Daylight Destruction

A Nationwide spokeswoman revealed the brazen attacks aren’t just happening under cover of darkness. “It seems that the vandalism is not just confined to night time but is sometimes being carried out in daylight,” she said.

The damage bill for repairs is a hefty £2,000, forcing customers to deal with long queues inside the branch as they lose access to the cash machine.

Police Seek Scrupulous Snitches

Police say there’s no clear motive behind the senseless vandalism. They are urging anyone who witnesses the damage in progress to call 999 immediately.

“We want to track down whoever is responsible for this pointless destruction,” said a spokesperson. “If you see anything suspicious, please report it.”
