Scissor Stab Horror: Man Jailed for Nearly Fatal Attack in West London
A West London man has been sentenced to six-and-a-half years behind bars after stabbing a man in the neck with a pair of scissors in a shocking late-night attack.
Petty Dispute Turns Violent in Westbourne Park
Dennis Gayle, 34, of Cobbold Road, W12, was convicted at Isleworth Crown Court after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent. The brutal assault happened on 17 October 2017 near a bar on Westbourne Park Road.
The victim, also 34, was approached by Gayle, who asked for directions to a cash machine. After agreeing, the victim guided Gayle to his car and then both travelled to Portobello Road.

Near Lancaster Road, a friendly chat soured. The victim tried to leave, but Gayle suddenly lunged at his vehicle, stabbing him in the neck with scissors before fleeing towards Golborne Road.
Passers-by rushed to help the victim, who received emergency treatment from London Ambulance Service before being taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He has since been discharged.

Gayle was arrested on 7 October and initially pleaded not guilty. He later changed his plea ahead of sentencing on 20 April.
“This was a petty dispute that very nearly resulted in a man losing his life. Now Gayle will spend a significant period of his life in prison,” said Detective Sergeant Chris Taylor.
“Thanks to the dedication of four detectives working through the night, a dangerous man was swiftly taken off London’s streets.”
