Massive Fire Response in Leather Gardens
Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters rushed to a ferocious fire in a 17th-floor flat at Leather Gardens, Stratford. The flat was completely destroyed by the flames, but luckily, there were no injuries reported.
Residents Evacuate Before Firefighters Arrive
About 100 residents fled the building before the fire brigade arrived. London Fire Brigade’s 999 Control Officers received 26 frantic calls before crews were at the scene.
Boiler Fault Blamed for Devastating Fire
The Brigade got the emergency call at 1:22 AM and had the blaze under control by 2:52 AM. Fire engines from Stratford, Plaistow, Leyton, East Ham, Bethnal Green, and nearby stations battled the flames. Investigators say the fire started accidentally due to a faulty boiler.
