Fire Crews Winch Car from River Thames

Firefighters were called to a car partially submerged in the River Thames in Thames Close in Hampton. Crews used a boat from a fire rescue unit to confirm that there was nobody in the vehicle. Firefighters then used a winch to pull the car from the river and back onto the riverbank. Station manager Andy Walton, who was at the scene, said: “Crews worked swiftly to recover the car from the river. Thankfully there was nobody inside the vehicle, but the owner did get a bit of a shock when they realised what had happened. “We advised the local residents to consider installing a barrier at the riverside to prevent any other vehicles rolling down the embankment in the future and suffering a similar fate.” The Brigade was called at 1.15pm and the incident was over for firefighters at 2.20pm. Fire crews from Twickenham, Kingston, Heston, Battersea and Wembley fire stations attended the scene.
