Blaze Erupts at Dagenham Scrapyard

A massive fire has broken out at a metal scrapyard on Perry Road, Dagenham, sending thick smoke billowing across the industrial estate.

Eight Engines and 60 Firefighters Battle the Flames

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were scrambled to the scene early this morning after the Brigade was called at 3:08am. Crews from Barking, Dagenham, East Ham, Wennington, and nearby stations are battling a large pile of scrap waste that’s ablaze.

Station Manager Fears Fire Could Spread

“Crews are working hard to make sure the fire doesn’t spread to other parts of the industrial estate,” said Station Manager Mark Jordan, who’s on-site.

Fortunately, the site is far from residential areas, so no homes are at risk despite the heavy smoke.

Road Closures and Ongoing Operations

Firefighters expect to remain on site for several hours into the morning. Local road closures are in effect as emergency teams tackle the blaze. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
