Arrest of teenager for knife offence in Maidstone
A teenager has been arrested following reports of threatening behaviour with a knife in Maidstone. At around 7.30pm on Monday 8 April 2019 Kent Police was called to a report of a disturbance in The Broadway. Officers attended and swiftly located a suspect, a 17-year-old boy from Chatham. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place and affray and later released pending further investigation. Kent Police takes a zero-tolerance approach to knife crime and those associated with it and this arrest forms part of an ongoing crackdown on knife crime across the county, including associated offences, such as supplying drugs. Maidstone Chief Inspector Ray Quiller said: ‘Our officers are continuing to take robust and proactive action to target anyone who thinks that carrying a knife or a weapon for whatever reason is acceptable.
