A suspected burglar has been charged after two break-ins were reported in the Maidstone area. Kent Police was called following a burglary at a house in Batten Walk on 27 April 2019 where a Mercedes ML 250 was stolen using keys from inside the house. On 1 May it is alleged a person driving the stolen vehicle, stopped at a Cranbrook petrol station and left without paying for some fuel. A further break-in was reported on 28 April where a VW Golf was taken using keys removed from inside an address at Charlton Lane, West Farleigh. Later that day it is alleged a passenger in this stolen car placed fuel in the vehicle at a petrol station in Cranbrook and left without paying. On Wednesday 1 May, 30-year-old Leon Holder was arrested in Swanley. He was later charged with two burglaries, two counts of making off without payment, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and possession of Class B drugs. Mr Holder of Fairview, Hawkhurst was remanded in custody and will appear by video link before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 3 May.
