Witnesses sought after wallet stolen during robbery in Folkestone

Information is being sought after a man in his 70s was robbed in Folkestone. It was reported that the victim had been sat on a bench in Sandgate Road when a man approached him, demanding money. The victim was subsequently assaulted and attended hospital for treatment. A wallet was reported stolen during the incident. The suspect was described as a white man with a tanned complexion, brown hair and a thin build. He was believed to be around 6ft tall and was wearing a white top and grey tracksuit bottoms. Shortly after there was an attempted robbery of a man aged in his 60s in Pleydell Gardens. Both incidents took place between 8pm and 9pm on Monday 13 May 2019. Currently officers are treating the two incidents as linked and ask that anyone who might have witnessed either incident or have CCTV covering Sandgate Road or Pleydell Gardens calls Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting either 46/91323/19 (Sandgate Road) or 46/91339/19 (Pleydell Gardens).
