Tragic Shootout at East London Snooker Club Leaves One Dead

Gunfire erupted at the Phoenix Club on Lea Bridge Road, E10, on Sunday afternoon, leaving a 27-year-old man dead and two others injured. Police swiftly arrested three men in connection with the shooting, as the hunt for answers intensifies.

Two Men Arrested and Released, Third Bailed

  • A 26-year-old and a 21-year-old were arrested on suspicion of murder shortly after the incident.
  • The 26-year-old was later released under investigation, while the 21-year-old was freed with no further action.
  • Both men suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated in an East London hospital.
  • A 33-year-old man was arrested on July 7 at Heathrow Airport and has since been bailed pending further inquiries.

Victim Killed at Scene, Police Appeal for Witnesses

Officers, including firearms teams, rushed to the scene just before 3pm after reports of gunshots. They found the victim, from Stratford, suffering a fatal gunshot wound.

Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed, with formal identification and a post-mortem due.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Wrigley said: “We understand the victim and two other men had gone to the snooker club. The victim was then involved in an altercation with another group and a number of shots were fired.

“Now a man has lost his life, two others are injured and we need the community to support us and help bring those responsible to justice.”

Police Urge Locals to Speak Up

Detectives are appealing for anyone who was at or near the Phoenix Club to come forward. Any information could prove crucial in their investigation.
