Magic Goes Wrong Show Cancelled Amid Theatre Evacuation on The Strand
Tonight’s performance of Magic Goes Wrong has been abruptly called off. Promoters blame “circumstances beyond our control” after a sudden evacuation at the London theatre set to host the show.
London Theatre Evacuated Over Suspicious Item
Police swooped on the Vaudeville Theatre on The Strand following reports of a suspicious object inside the building. Officers arrived at around 7.20pm on Saturday, January 11, and promptly evacuated the premises as a safety precaution.
Specialist search dogs were brought in to assist Met Police officers already on the scene. Nearby restaurants, including Bella Italia, were also evacuated amid the scare.
Road Closures and Police Lockdown
The area remained under a strict police lockdown with several local roads closed to traffic while officers carried out a major search operation. Patrons and diners faced disruption as authorities sealed off the vicinity for safety.
False Alarm: Item Declared Safe
A Met Police spokesperson confirmed: “Police were called at approximately 7.20pm on Saturday, 11 January to reports of a suspicious item in commercial premises on The Strand.
“Officers attended and the building was evacuated as a precaution. A number of local roads were also closed to traffic.
“The item has been found to be non-suspicious and cordons are in the process of being lifted.”
As of now, the lockdown is easing and normal service looks set to resume—except for tonight’s cancelled show, which remains off the cards for audiences.
