Innocent Woman Shot in Hackney Nightclub Shooting

Detectives are hunting for a vital witness after a New Year’s Day shooting at Visions Nightclub, Hackney. At 4.50am on 1 January 2019, a fight broke out between two men inside the busy Kingsland Road venue.

During the tussle, a gun was fired. A stray bullet hit a 28-year-old woman in the leg. She was rushed to hospital and later discharged but still needs ongoing treatment.

Key Witness With Short Red Hair Sought

Trident detectives have released a photo of a woman they believe left the club with the shooter. She is described as a black woman with short red hair at the time of the incident.

“This altercation led to a completely innocent woman being injured and it is only by sheer luck she did not suffer more serious injuries,” said Detective Constable Kerry Cooper.

“We believe this woman was present during the attack and left the nightclub with the man who fired the weapon. We urgently need to speak to her as part of our investigation.”

Police Appeal for Information

Anyone who recognises the woman is urged to call police on 101, quoting reference number 3029/01Jan19. A man was charged in August 2019 over the shooting.
