A dramatic rescue operation is underway off Peacehaven, East Sussex, after a dog and its owner got into trouble in the water.

Coastguard and Lifeboat Team Up in High-Stakes Rescue

HM Coastguard has launched a full-scale search and rescue involving a Coastguard helicopter and the Brighton lifeboat. The lifeboat was dispatched around 6pm Tuesday, speeding through choppy seas towards the incident near the beach at the bottom of Malines Avenue.

The Coastguard helicopter hovered overhead, lowering a winch line with a paramedic to assist.

Life-Saving Action on the Beach

  • One person was pulled from the water by a quick-thinking member of the public and the coastguard rescue team.
  • Two others self-rescued; one identified as a surfer and another accompanying the critical victim.
  • Newhaven coastguard units are performing CPR cycles on the person fighting for their life.

Brighton Lifeboat Stands Down; Air Ambulance on Scene

The Brighton lifeboat has now been stood down and is returning to base. An air ambulance has landed nearby to provide urgent medical aid.
