Young Dad Killed in Horrific A2 Crash Near Gravesend
A “loving and caring” 23-year-old from Gravesend has tragically died after being struck by a van on the A2 late Monday night.
Matthew Russell’s Life Cut Short
Matthew Russell, known to friends as Matt, was hit by a white Vauxhall Movano at 11.25pm while walking on the London-bound side of the A2 near Gravesend.
Those who knew Matt describe him as full of energy, always ready to help, and a true laugh-maker. “He was so loving and caring,” said a close friend. “To think he was just with us enjoying dinner and drinks earlier that evening, and then gone hours later, is devastating.”
Matt’s tragic death has left a huge hole in the hearts of his partner, family, and friends. “He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time,” added the friend.
Police Open Investigation, Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Despite the best efforts of ambulance crews, Matt was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the van in the moments before the collision to get in touch.
Officers are also seeking dashcam footage that could prove vital in piecing together what happened.
