West London Wedding Bash Shut Down Over Virus Rules
Two men face fines after throwing a massive wedding party at a Southall restaurant, ignoring strict COVID-19 limits. Police were called at 7.07pm on Sunday, 1 November, to Chaudhry’s TKC venue following reports of a large gathering.
Fooling Police? Think Again
One organiser tried to downplay the crowd, claiming just 15 guests were present. But officers found around 100 people crammed into a curtained-off back room celebrating the wedding reception. This clearly broke the regulations that cap wedding events at 15 attendees for ceremonies and sit-down receptions.
Police Clampdown Amid Rising Infection Rates
The party was immediately shut down. Chief Superintendent Peter Gardner, West Area Commander, warned:
“We are still in a national pandemic and infection rates are steadily rising – restrictions around weddings have been put in place to save lives.”
He added that officers will be out in force across London, patrolling and cracking down on large gatherings. Gardner urged the public to comply with the rules, saying:
“Coronavirus remains a real and deadly threat… Please continue to act responsibly. Maintain social distancing, respect the regulations and keep yourself and others safe.”
