Veteran Trooper Dies from 9/11-Related Illness

Trooper Jennifer Czarnecki, a 20-year State Police veteran, has tragically died from a 9/11-related illness, Acting Superintendent Kevin Bruen confirmed. Czarnecki joined the force less than a year before being sent to Lower Manhattan to assist with search-and-recovery after the World Trade Center collapse.

Long Career Cut Short by Illness

Throughout her career, Czarnecki served in Troop D in Oneida and Troop A in Batavia. The illness forced her retirement on November 3, police said.

Remembered by Family and Colleagues

She leaves behind her husband, mother, and brother. Her dedication to duty and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
