Officer Sprayed with Chemical in Shocking Clapham Common Attack

A police officer was left gasping for air after being sprayed with an unknown substance in the early hours of Saturday at a hotel on Clapham Common South Side.

Emergency Response Scrambles to Scene

The single crewed officer was responding to a 999 call at the Clapham South Hotel when the assault happened. The chemical caused breathing difficulties, forcing the officer to press their panic button for urgent backup.

London Ambulance Service paramedics and London Fire Brigade crews rushed to the scene to assist. Additional police units also arrived to support their colleague.

Suspect Arrested After Incident

One individual was treated by paramedics at the scene before being arrested. They remain in custody as investigations continue.

The Met Police have been approached for a comment on the incident.
