Roof Collapse in £1M Ladbroke Grove Home Sparks Dramatic Rescue

A luxury three-storey house in Ladbroke Grove, west London, turned into a nightmare on Sunday night when its roof caved in, smashing the main staircase and trapping residents inside.

13 Rescued Using Ladders Across Rubble

The London Fire Brigade and police rushed to the scene shortly after 10pm on Chesterton Road, a posh street where homes sell for over £1 million. Firefighters had to deploy specialist Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) equipment to save 13 people from four flats inside the building.

An elderly woman in her 80s was among those rescued after falling debris blocked their only exit. Crews bridged the missing steps with ladders to lead all trapped residents to safety.

Station Commander Brett Loft said: “Four properties were affected by the collapse, which involved part of the front parapet wall at roof level. The debris had collapsed onto the front steps and trapped people inside. Fortunately, no one was injured.”

Technology Aids Safety Checks and Rescue

A British Transport Police drone surveyed the damaged building to assess structural safety, while a thermal imaging camera scanned nearby homes for signs of movement. Meanwhile, police blocked off several nearby roads to secure the area as emergency crews worked.

The dramatic rescue operation has left local residents shaken but thankful as the emergency services pull off a slick save without any injuries.
