Ukrainian Lorry Driver Vitali Skrypniak Fatally Stabbed Outside Belvedere Station
Tragic Death of Vitali Skrypniak
Vitali Skrypniak, 45, a Ukrainian lorry driver from Lviv Oblast, has been named as the victim found fatally stabbed outside Belvedere Railway Station on Saturday night, 18 September. Vitali had only recently arrived in the UK on 15 August via Dover to transport goods for a logistics company.
He had parked his lorry overnight in Hailey Road, just five minutes from the station, before the deadly altercation.
Police Investigation Underway
Police were called at 10:13pm after Vitali was discovered injured near the station. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but sadly he was pronounced dead at the spot.
A post-mortem examination confirmed that a single stab wound to the chest was the cause of death.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers, leading the inquiry, said:
“Vitali was a married man with a toddler back home. His death has shattered his family, leaving his wife distraught and his young son without a father. Our thoughts are with them during this devastating time.”
“Vitali was off duty, having parked his vehicle and bought some drinks while chatting with fellow drivers when the attack happened. He was left to die on the street.”
“We don’t yet know the motive but are pursuing several lines of enquiry. Anyone who saw Vitali or witnessed the altercation is urged to come forward—even dashcam footage could be crucial.”
Family Pleads for Justice
Speaking on behalf of Vitali’s family, a heartfelt statement reads:
“This is a terrible tragedy. Our daughter has lost her husband and their son has lost his father. We want those responsible to face the full force of the law. Please help the police by providing any information that might catch this person.”
