High-speed chase ends with dramatic rooftop arrest in Orpington
On the evening of Saturday 27 November 2021, police were scrambling after a stolen car was spotted tearing along the A20 Swanley Bypass. When officers tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver sped off, forcing police to deploy a stinger device to stop the chase.
Car crash and getaway on foot
The suspect’s vehicle smashed into a police car and a roadside barrier before the driver abandoned the wreck and bolted towards St Paul’s Wood Hill, Orpington, with another man in tow.
Dogs and choppers in dramatic manhunt
Enter Police Dogs Britt and Biggy. Assisted by a police helicopter, Britt tracked down one man hiding in nearby woods. Meanwhile, Biggy sniffed out the second suspect – who was found hanging out on the roof of a local school.
Men in their twenties in custody
Both men, aged in their twenties and hailing from Orpington and dartford/" title="Dartford" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Dartford, were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, and criminal damage. They have since been released pending further investigation.
