At around 6.30 p.m. yesterday, police on patrol discovered the injured man on North Cray Road.
Before ambulance and air ambulance crews arrived, police administered first aid to the man.
Despite the efforts of emergency personnel, the rider, who was thought to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man’s family has been notified.
Police do not believe that any other vehicles were involved, and it is possible that the rider collided with a traffic island.
This incident is being investigated at the moment.

On Wednesday, 29 June, around 18:30hrs, officers on patrol came across an injured motorcycle rider on North Cray Road.
“The officers provided immediate first aid.”
Despite the efforts of the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance Service, the rider – a man in his 30s – was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin has been notified.”
“At this time, no other vehicles are believed to have been involved, and the motorcycle may have collided with a traffic island.”
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit in Catford are looking into this.
