Two Men Caught Trespassing in Empty House
At 5:20 a.m. on Crofton Road, Orpington, locals spotted two men acting suspiciously. The pair broke into a vacant house undergoing renovation.
Armed Police Rush In, One Arrested
Police soon arrived, detaining an 18-year-old at the scene. Armed officers were called in when a firearm was found on the premises.
The teenager faces charges of aggravated burglary and possession of a firearm. He is now in custody at a south London police station.
Second Suspect Flees, Crime Scene in Place
While one man was arrested, a second suspect managed to escape. Police have cordoned off the area and launched a full investigation.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A man has been arrested for burglary and possession of a firearm. Officers were dispatched to Crofton Road, Orpington, at 05:22hrs on Thursday, 30 June. Two men were reported acting suspiciously and had entered an empty property under renovation. After a firearm was found, armed officers assisted with the search. A crime scene has been established and investigations are ongoing.”
