Police Crackdown Ahead of World Cup

“This extensive investigation has led to 24 charges connected to utterly unacceptable violence and disorder in Maidstone town centre — some of which resulted in injuries to our officers,” said Superintendent Richard Woolley, divisional commander for West Kent.

“We’re committed to prosecuting anyone involved in football-related crime, whether inside stadiums or on the streets. With the 2022 World Cup around the corner, we’re boosting patrols and working closely with pubs and licensed venues to keep the peace.

“Our goal: to ensure the tournament is remembered for the right reasons, not because of violence or disorder.”
