Child Abuser Rodney Morgan Jailed for 14 Years
Rodney Morgan, 56, once from Swindon and now living in Newport, was locked up today at Swindon Crown Court. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison, plus five years on extended licence, after pleading guilty to horrific child abuse offences committed while he lived in Swindon.
Disturbing Crimes Uncovered
Morgan was arrested in September 2022 by the Child Internet Exploitation Team (CIET) following a tip-off that he uploaded indecent images of a child online. What police uncovered during his interview shocked even seasoned investigators.
“The abuse the victim – a baby – suffered at the hands of Morgan is completely abhorrent,” said Detective Constable Justine Parsons.
“I’ve been a detective for 14 years and in the Child Internet Exploitation Team for five, and this is one of the most horrendous cases I have ever dealt with.”
Filmed Abuse Sparks Outrage
Parsons revealed Morgan filmed himself abusing the baby multiple times for his own gratification. She welcomed the harsh sentence, confident Morgan is now behind bars and no longer a threat to children.
“Morgan’s lengthy jail term is a relief. He no longer poses a danger to babies and children,” Parsons added.
“Wiltshire Police’s CIET remains dedicated to hunting down offenders like Morgan and protecting our most vulnerable.”
