Double Murder Horror Shakes Portsmouth Estate

Armed cops stormed a £500,000 four-bedroom home in Portsmouth’s Anchorage Park after a shocking shooting left two dead. The tragedy unfolded just before 10am on Wednesday, September 14, on Holcot Lane.

Gunfire Heard by Neighbours

Witnesses told of terrifying gunshots ringing out. One neighbour, speaking anonymously, said the shooter, identified as former jewellery shop manager Christopher Stone-Houghton, may have turned the gun on himself and several family members linked to his partner, Ruth Stone-Houghton.

Paramedics from South Central Ambulance rushed to the scene after reports of multiple injuries. Police sealed off the property with a large cordon as specialist crime units launched a major murder investigation.

Police Confirm Double Fatality

“Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in Portsmouth,” a Hampshire Police spokesman said.

“Officers arrived at Holcot Lane at 10.27am on Wednesday 14 September. They found the body of a 60-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man inside the house.”

“We are treating this as an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public. No other suspects are being sought.”

“There will be a police presence at the property in the coming days. We thank residents for their patience as the investigation continues.”

Community Left Shell-Shocked

Local residents remain stunned by the violent events. Hampshire Police say formal identification is ongoing and specialist officers are supporting the devastated family at the scene.

The investigation is fluid, with the crime scene expected to stay in place for some time. More updates will follow as detectives probe what led to this tragic double murder on a quiet Portsmouth street.
