Man Jailed After Brandishing Weapon in Mansfield Street Brawl

Mark Beresford, 39, sparked fear in Winster Way, Mansfield, when he waved a weapon during a violent row with another man just before 3pm on Wednesday, 2 February.

Swift Arrest and Guilty Plea

Police swooped the same afternoon, arresting Beresford on the spot. He later admitted to possessing an offensive weapon.

Judge Sends Beresford Down for 12 Months

At Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, Beresford, a local resident, was sentenced to 12 months behind bars.

Police Slam Dangerous Behaviour

Inspector Kylie Davies of Nottinghamshire Police slammed the incident, saying: “This was an alarming incident for others to witness and there can be no excuse for Beresford’s behaviour. I am pleased he has now been held to account for his actions and hope this case serves as a warning to others about the potential consequences of carrying weapons in public.”
