Meeks first hit the spotlight in the 1990s BBC teen drama Byker Grove. He played Simon Meredith, leader of the Denton Burn youth gang—rivals to the main Byker Grove club, where future stars Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (aka PJ and Duncan) featured.
