BBC Stalker Alex Belfield Busted Thanks to Top Cops

Detective Constable Janet Percival and disclosure officer Gary Dodd nailed Alex Belfield, putting him behind bars for nasty stalking offences. The disgraced ex-BBC radio host targeted former colleagues, a famous celeb, and two other men with a relentless campaign of hateful harassment.

Five-and-a-Half Years for Belfield’s Online Terror

Belfield was jailed for five-and-a-half years in September 2022 after a tense four-week trial at nottingham/" title="Nottingham" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Nottingham Crown Court. His online attacks sparked outrage, but thanks to DC Percival and Gary Dodd’s relentless work, justice was served.

Heroes of the Hunt: Police Investigator of the Year

For their tireless effort in stopping Belfield’s campaign, DC Percival and Gary Dodd scooped the Police Investigator of the Year award at the Nottinghamshire Police Force Awards.

Detective Inspector Craig Hall praised the pair, saying:

“Within a very short period, it became clear Belfield was running online terror campaigns against multiple victims. This case was far more serious and complex than first thought.”

“After Belfield’s initial interview, he ramped up attacks, flooding YouTube with videos attacking DC Percival and urging his 300,000-strong followers to hurl hateful abuse at both DC Percival and several BBC broadcasters.”

“Undeterred, DC Percival linked up with the BBC legal team to gather vital evidence — emails, videos, social posts targeting the victims.”

“Gary Dodd’s role was crucial. He reviewed, indexed, and organised over 3,000 pieces of evidence into clear, legally compliant disclosure bundles.”

“This was no easy feat as each item often involved multiple victims and had to be carefully duplicated in legal packs.”

“Thanks to their painstaking work and overcoming legal hurdles, Belfield was locked up for a serious stretch.”
