Croydon Incident Live: Police And Paramedics Injured Whilst Answering A 999 Call In Croydon

Police and Paramedics have been treated after a substance was sprayed into a building whilst they answered a 999 Call in the centre of Croydon South London.

The emergency workers had been called to a property on Oakfeld Road in Croydon just after 2pm on Friday 5th May 2023.

Fire crews and further paramedics had to be called to treat and assist their Colleague who had been affected by an unknown substance that was sprayed into the building.

Police have closed the road and a crime scene and inner cordon have been established. It is unclear if other residents living in the building have been affected and if the building has been evacuated.

The Met Police and the London Ambulance Service have been approached for comment

London Fire Brigade’s Detection, Identifying and Monitoring (DIM) unit is at the scene in Croydon.

Police

A spokesman for the Met Police said: We were called by LAS at 14:19hrs on Friday, 5 May to reports of a woman making threats at an address in Oakfield Road, Croydon.

Officers attended. At the scene LAS medics were treating a woman inside her address who was suffering the effects of having been sprayed with a noxious substance.

As medics worked, the female suspect, who had allegedly sprayed the victim, attempted to gain entry to the address by kicking the door to the property.

The victim and the medics were affected by the fumes from the substance sprayed. Their conditions were not life threatening.

A woman, no further details, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a Section 5 Firearm [noxious substance sprayed] and affray.

She was taken to a south London police station where she remains at this time.
