Late-night brawl on Church Street sends shockwaves but no serious injuries
Verbal spat turns nasty
Just before midnight on Saturday 6 May, two 18-year-old lads were sitting on a Church Street bench with a woman when trouble struck. Three men approached, sparking a heated verbal row between the groups.
Attack follows argument
The situation quickly escalated, with the two young men reportedly assaulted by the trio. Luckily, their injuries weren’t serious enough to need immediate medical help.
Suspects in custody
Police swooped on the scene and arrested two local men, aged 49 and 56, suspected of assault causing actual bodily harm. Both have since been released under investigation.
