Two Women Bailed After Terror Arrests Linked to Pro-Palestine Protests
Two women arrested over suspected terrorism offences following a public appeal by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command have been bailed. The investigation is ongoing.
Public Appeal Leads to Arrests
Police released images of three women connected to suspected terrorism offences at a pro-Palestine protest earlier this month. After the appeal on 27 October, two women aged 29 and 26 came forward at a South London police station on 30 October.
Both were arrested on suspicion of inviting support for a proscribed organisation under the Terrorism Act 2000. They were held in custody under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act and have now been bailed to a date in early November, pending CPS advice.
Police Still Hunting Third Woman and Supporter of Hamas
Officers are still searching for a third woman seen at the Whitehall protest on 14 October. She’s described as black, wearing a red coat, a dark scarf with a flower pattern, baggy jeans, and has an image of a paraglider on her top.
Police are also seeking a man spotted at a Bond Street protest on 21 October, waving a placard reading “I fully support Hamas.” He has short hair, light skin, and was dressed in a blue jacket with a light top, a stripy scarf, and light trousers or jeans.
Counter Terror Chief Urges Public to Come Forward
“My officers are working round the clock with colleagues across the country to investigate suspected terrorism offences both on the ground and online,” said Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.
“I thank those who have already helped by reporting information. If you recognise yourself in these images, or know who these people are, please come forward. Every lead counts.”
